About Caroline, The Misfit behind the Brand
A formerly shy, autistic introvert who became a socially confident version of myself.
Hi! I'm Caroline, a.k.a., The Introverted Misfit, a social confidence coach based in Auburn, AL. Once upon a time, I had such bad social anxiety that my counselor wanted to start me on medication to ease my nerves in social settings. I was scared of talking to people because I didn’t know how to talk to them; I didn’t know how to play the social game that I saw everyone else playing.
The reason for my struggles with communication became clear when I was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome as a teenager, or as it’s now known as Level 1 Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), which is a neurological disorder that affects how people interact with others, communicate, learn, and behave. Because I was able to become a socially confident version of myself without acting extroverted and without being perfect, I do the same for other “introverted misfits” in my 1-on-1 work with clients — whether they’re autistic, or just an introvert who wants to refine their social confidence and abilities.
I help shy, socially awkward, introverts stop being scared of social interactions without having to act extroverted.
Right now you might struggle with your social confidence as an introvert — whether or not you’re on the spectrum or not, and it’s preventing you from creating and sustaining a healthy social life, business connections, and relationships. I can help with that! With my 1-on-1 coaching services for shy, awkward, or low support needs autistic introverts, I help you realize that you can become a socially confident introvert without being loud, extroverted, or having 100% perfect social skills; you can use your unique communication strengths to connect with the right kind of people!
I also offer support via my podcast and my monthly Misfit Meet-Ups in the Auburn/Opelika area.
Here’s what I am NOT:
I’m not an autism expert or specialist.
I’m not a professional counselor, therapist, or psychologist.
I’m not someone who wants to force you to become someone you’re not.
Here’s what I AM:
I am social confidence coach for introverts who need help in the social arena — whether they’re autistic or not.
I am an introverted woman who happens to be on the spectrum and is not ashamed of it.
I am someone who used to be scared of talking to people, and then I discovered that they’re not so scary after all. So, I help other people discover that same thing for themselves.
